The fine covers are kept closed by the elegant sterling silver clasps, made by the careful hands of my father.
I called this book "The Fall of Nazarius," with this title I wanted to pay tribute to Emilian Stanev and his story about Nazarius and Tychic. How a Bogomil icon painter slowly recedes from his faith and becomes a savage.
The gilding is with 24 carat gold leaf, at times just like the text - hidden behind the silver doors made by my father, in which we set 12 rhodolite pink garnets. Four large ones on the doors themselves and another 8 smaller ones onto the base.
The square was the primary form in this book and that posed a bit of a question as to where to put the clasps and how many should they be? Finally, we decided each side to have a clasp, making a total of three plus a faux base on the side of the covers facing the spine.
The fittings consist of 8 corners, 4 for each cover. Centrally located is an medalion with 4 buttons of 14 carat gold and 4 mm citrine in the middle. The book is kept closed by a clasp. All items are made of 925 sterling silver, made by my dad.
